Sabina and Co. to Play Friendly Matches Against UAE

Dhaka: The national women’s football team is set to return to international football after a four-month hiatus, as they prepare to play two friendly matches against the United Arab Emirates in February and March. Ahead of these matches, the team has already commenced gym and fitness training under the guidance of assistant coaches, following the directives of head coach Peter James Butler, at the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) Bhaban. The Bangladesh women’s football team is scheduled to depart for the UAE on February 24.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, BFF women’s wing chairperson Mahfuz Akter Kiron today (Saturday) mentioned that the team’s head coach would return from his break by this week to oversee the ongoing camp. Kiron expressed her optimism regarding the team’s performance in the upcoming friendlies against the UAE.

Earlier, the UAE agreed to participate in two friendly matches, although the specific dates have yet to be finalized. The first match is anticipated to take place at the end of February, with the second match following in early March. The Bangladesh women’s football team last competed internationally in October of the previous year, where Sabina and Co. made history by winning consecutive titles at the prestigious SAFF Women’s Championship held in Kathmandu, Nepal.
