Ferry Movement Resumes After 10.30 Hours on Paturia-Daulatdia Route

Paturia: The ferry movement between the Paturia-Daulatdia river route resumed after 10.30 hours of suspension for poor visibility as dense fog blanketed the river bed of the Padma, Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) sources said. BIWTC Paturia Ghat Deputy General Manager (DGM) Nasir Mahmud Chowdhury stated that the ferry movement was disrupted due to dense fog.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, five ferries, namely Hasna Hena, Golam Maula, Vigar, Shah Poran, and Shah Enayetpuri, were waiting at Paturia Ghat, while six ferries, including Shah Keramat Ali, Kumilla, Beer Shreshtha Motiur Rahman, Shaheed Borkot, Gouri, and Kopoti, were at Daulatdia Ghat during the suspension period. After 9.00 am, the ferry movement resumed with full loads, DGM Nasir Mahmud confirmed.

Meanwhile, ferry movement also resumed after 8.30 hours of suspension on the Aricha-Kazirhat route as dense fog impacted visibility. BIWTC Aricha Ghat Manager Md Abdullah reported that ferry operations were halted from 11.30 pm on Saturday to 8 am on Sunday. During this time, three ferries, Shah Ali, Dhan Shiri, and Chitra, remained at Kazirhat Ghat, while three others, Khan Jahan Ali, Beer Shreshtha Hamidur Rahman, and Kishani, were stationed at Aricha Ghat. By 8 am on Sunday, ferry movement was back to normal, according to sources.
