Tongi: The district administration today handed over the Tongi Ijtema ground to the followers of Maulana Saad Kandhalvi for holding the second phase of the Bishwa Ijtema from February 14 to 16.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Gazipur Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Md Wahid Hossain informed newsmen about the handover during a press briefing at noon. He stated that the ground was transferred to the followers of Maulana Saad Kandhalvi following the completion of the first phase of the Ijtema. The second phase will commence on February 14 and conclude on February 16 with the Akheri Munajat, the final prayer. The ground will be returned to the district administrator on February 18.
The handover was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner of Gazipur Metropolitan Police Hafizul Islam and Regional Executive Officer of Gazipur City Corporation Firoz Al Mamun. Several followers of Maulana Saad Kandhalvi, including Engineer Shah Md Muhibbullah, Dr Rezaul Karim, Dr Abdus Salam, Media Coordinator Mohammad Sayem, and others, were present during the ceremony.
