5 Robbers Detained in Pallabi


Dhaka: Joint forces have arrested five active members of a professional gang of robbers while preparing for a robbery in the capital’s Pallabi area. The arrestees were identified as Shakib, 18, Md. Yasin, 19, Md. Shimul, 20, Md. Sujan, 19, and Rabbi Hasan Joy, 20, according to a media release from the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the operation led to the recovery of two knives and three machetes from the possession of the detained individuals. Acting on a tip-off, police and joint forces conducted a raid on Thursday at 12:45 am after receiving information that some members of the robber ring were preparing for a heist in the Balur Ghat Barontek area under Pallabi police station.



As the joint forces approached, the robbers attempted to flee, but the five individuals were apprehended at the scene. Pallabi police station confirmed that the arrestees are active members of a professional robbery gang. During preliminary interrogation, they confessed to gathering at the location with homemade weapons to commit a robbery.



Legal proceedings are underway against the arrestees.
