Chapakot: Chapakot municipality in Syangja district has offered health insurance service to 600 poor families for free. Out of 10 wards of the municipality, 60 poor families have been selected in each ward for the insurance coverage.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Mayor Dev Bahadur Khand stated that the municipality offered health insurance service to such a number of economically poor households with the intention that no one should be deprived of basic health services due to financial reasons. “The municipality brought them under the free health insurance coverage to provide accessible health services to people from the indigent community by affiliating them in the health insurance scheme launched by the government of Nepal,” he mentioned.
The municipality has allocated Rs 2.560 million budget for the health insurance scheme for the poor community in the current fiscal year. It has distributed insurance cards to these families, and a family of five members would receive health treatment services free of cost.
