Health Minister Thapa Joins Araniko Highway Clean-Up Campaign

Madhyapur Thimi: Minister for Health of Bagmati Province, Kiran Thapa, reached the Araniko highway section at Lokanthali on Madhyapur Thimi municipality-1, armed with a broom and dustbin, to support the ‘Two hours for the nation’ campaign.

According to National News Agency Nepal, the participation of Minister Thapa in the 104-week long clean-up campaign emphasized the importance of local responsibility for road cleanliness. He highlighted ongoing preparations for constructing a trauma center in Bhaktapur to provide immediate treatment for road accident victims. Thapa noted that frequent accidents on the Araniko highway necessitate immediate medical facilities, as transporting the injured directly to Kathmandu poses a risk to their lives.

Minister Thapa announced plans for the province government to develop and upgrade Suryabinayak Municipal Hospital into a trauma center, emphasizing the allocation of necessary budget for the upcoming fiscal year. He assured that the government has initiated the required processes for this development.

Campaigner Nabaraj Kafle highlighted the expansion of the clean-up campaign to Changunarayan municipality and mentioned a collaborative effort with traffic police to reduce road accidents, underscoring the campaign’s broader goals.
