New York: Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizen, Nawal Kishor Saha Sudi, has stated that Nepal has achieved significant progress in promoting gender equality and empowering women and children.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Minister Sudi highlighted these advancements during his address at a UN event focused on women empowerment in New York, USA. He emphasized the importance of gender equality as a foundation for a sustainable and just society.
“Nepal’s constitution has ensured 33 percent representation of women at federal and provincial levels while 40 percent at local level. Nepal is committed to gender equality and women empowerment,” Minister Sudi shared.
The Minister further elaborated on various initiatives undertaken by the government to empower women and children. These initiatives include efforts in financial inclusion, strengthening social security, implementing a gender-responsive budget, and bridging the gender digital divide.
