Kathmandu: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has asserted that the establishment of the federal democratic republic has effectively brought Singha Durbar closer to the people through the local level governance. Speaking at the 32nd anniversary function organized by the Municipality Association of Nepal (MuAN), Prime Minister Oli emphasized the significance of local government, stating that the formation of a strong local level was a result of the end of the monarchy, achieved through the prolonged struggle and sacrifice of the Nepali people.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Prime Minister Oli addressed concerns regarding the structure of the provinces, while noting that there have been no questions raised about the local level governments during the implementation of federalism. He reiterated the indispensability of local government as it serves as the closest form of governance to the people. Prime Minister Oli also committed to addressing the challenges and demands of local levels by formulating suitable policies and legislations, highlighting the necessity for cooperation and collaboration among the three levels of government.
In a different context, Prime Minister Oli addressed ongoing activities aimed at restoring the monarchy, urging everyone to focus on strengthening the republic. He reminded the audience that the autocracy experienced during the monarchy has not been forgotten by the people, and emphasized the importance of working towards reinforcing the federal democratic republic.
