Defence Minister Rai Vows to Initiate Road Opening in Gokarna Forest

Gokarneshwor: Defence Minister Manbir Rai has expressed his commitment to initiate the process of opening a road inside the outer wall of Gokarna forest, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Office of the Nepal Trust. During an inspection of the forest area located at Gokarneshwor Municipality-4, Rai assured that he would provide the necessary support to facilitate the road opening by removing the existing wall.

According to National News Agency Nepal, the demand to open this road has been a long-standing request from the Gokarneshwor municipality. The opening of the road would significantly improve convenience for locals traveling between Dakshindhoka and Mulpani from the Gokarneshwor temple area. The Bagmati corridor in this area remains incomplete due to the unopened road alongside the western wall of the Gokarna forest.

Chairperson of Gokarneshwor Municipality-4, Jayram Mahat, highlighted that opening the road would alleviate the traffic congestion that frequently occurs above the Gokarna dam. In addition to local government efforts, House of Representatives member Shanti Shrestha informed RSS that a meeting was held with Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli a month ago regarding the road, and the Prime Minister had also expressed a commitment to take necessary initiatives for its opening.
