Kathmandu: Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development, Ramnath Adhikari, has pledged transparency in the distribution of agricultural grants. Though there have been allegations of irregularities in such grants in the past, the Minister assured that these issues would not reoccur.
According to National News Agency Nepal, during his address at an Agro Investment Conference organised by the Agro Enterprise Centre of the Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Minister announced that the government has launched the disclosure of grant details. “Now all the related details are accessible,” he stated.
The Minister revealed that over the past five years, 1.05 billion has been spent on agricultural grants, and the practice of making direct allocations from the ministry has been discontinued. He emphasized the importance of collective efforts in pursuing agricultural self-sufficiency, noting that relying solely on the private sector is insufficient to meet the State’s agricultural goals.
