Kathmandu: A four-day international media training on Dignified Menstruation kicked off in the federal capital, Kathmandu, today. A total of 17 journalists, including from Kenya, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, India, and Nepal, are attending the capacity building event.

According to National News Agency Nepal, Lals Chalaune, who takes charge of the communication department of the host, Global South Coalition for Dignified Menstruation, stated that the event aims to sensitize participants about the concepts around Dignified Menstruation and reinforce policymakers towards its urgency through media advocacy. Sapna Paudel, the programme head for the Coalition, mentioned that applications for the training programme were sought through announcements on social media platforms.

The host received applications from 20 countries around the world. Participants were screened based on certain criteria, such as content contributions to international media/magazines and the production of content centering on menstruation, as well as their ideas and understanding aligning with the objectives of the campaign for Dignified Menstruation.
