Lumbini: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has emphasized the increasing relevance of Buddha’s philosophy of peace amidst contemporary global conflicts and hatred. He underscored the necessity of globally publicizing the path of peace and non-violence as demonstrated by Gautam Buddha during the inauguration of the 4th Asian Buddhist Cultural Festival at Buddha’s birthplace, Lumbini.
According to National News Agency Nepal, PM Oli highlighted that events like these not only elevate Lumbini’s prominence but also boost the study of Buddhist philosophy worldwide. He remarked that war and violence are ineffective in establishing peace, and the arms race poses a significant threat to global harmony. The festival, he noted, is a platform to disseminate a positive message of peace through Buddhism’s art, culture, history, research, and interaction. He reiterated that Buddha’s teachings on peace and non-violence foster humanity and compassion.
PM Oli also urged the Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation to enhance Lumbini’s appeal through educational initiatives, seminars, discourses, meditation, and yoga. The festival will showcase 40 working papers on various aspects of Buddhist culture, art, tradition, medicine, and education.
The event witnessed the participation of dignitaries from 40 countries, including Tourism Minister Badri Prasad Pande and the Chief Minister of Lumbini Province, Chet Narayan Acharya. It aims to promote global peace through the propagation of Buddhist philosophy and culture.
