Five-Centuries-Old Sauru Monastery Undergoes Major Renovation

Sauru: The 500-year-old Sauru Monastery, located in the Thasang rural municipality-2, has received a significant facelift following a major renovation project.

According to National News Agency Nepal, the renovation was made possible through the generous contribution of Rs 2.25 million by social workers Madan and Bal Kumari Gauchan from Pokhara. Subarna Gauchan, chairperson of the Monastery Conservation Management Committee, stated that both the interior and exterior parts of the once-dilapidated monastery have been meticulously repaired.

The renovation process included paving the monastery premises with reinforced cement concrete (RCC) and carrying out electrification. In addition to these improvements, essential structures such as toilets have also been constructed, enhancing the functionality and accessibility of the historic site.
