Jumla: Five hundred and ninety-one athletes are taking part in the Jumla-Rara Ultra Marathon that kicks off here on Saturday, the Karnali Sports Club announced in a press conference today. It said all preparations for the sixth edition of the 51-kilometre race have been completed.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Club President Saroj Shahi stated that 74 athletes from Nepal, two from India, and one each from Poland, USA, and France are competing in the marathon. The event will include 155 employees participating in a five-kilometre run for employees, 355 students competing in a 10-kilometre distance race for students, and two participants from the Tribhuvan Army Club.
Shahi mentioned that Rs 2.8 million has been allocated for the marathon. He expressed confidence that the competition would contribute to the promotion of tourism in the district.
