All Infrastructure Sector Projects Re-Prioritized, Announces PM Oli

Kathmandu: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has announced a re-prioritization of all projects within the infrastructure sector, asserting that the government’s policies and programs for the fiscal year 2025-26 are neither outdated nor repetitive. During a session of the House of Representatives, he addressed inquiries regarding these new policies and emphasized the need for a shift in the development and construction modalities, which have progressed at a slow pace and operated under a ‘work in progress’ culture. Oli stressed the importance of strategic investment in projects that yield tangible results.

According to National News Agency Nepal, Prime Minister Oli highlighted the government’s proposal to modify the development approach to overcome existing shortcomings. He reiterated the commitment to implement these changes, ensuring that initiated projects do not face delays. Under the new policy, national pride projects will undergo a review, with a focus on completing ongoing projects within the fiscal year 2025-26 and establishing timelines to finish them within the current House of Representatives’ term.

PM Oli also introduced a policy to develop a ‘business plan’ that caters to the interests of investors and creditors, addressing aspects such as ‘cash flow, risk mitigation, and legal security.’ This plan includes an evaluation of ‘feasibility, risks, and returns’ before stakeholders express interest and commitment to new infrastructure projects.

The Prime Minister informed parliamentarians that the proposed policies aim to promote entrepreneurship, production, productivity, and job creation. Additionally, they seek to commercialize agriculture and foster infrastructure development through cooperation, coordination, and collaboration across the three levels of government.

Furthermore, Prime Minister Oli announced plans for a new National Educational Reform Programme roadmap, proposing policies to enhance the accessibility, quality, and practicality of education. He also mentioned the integration of all public hospitals into a unified online service, linking health-related assistance and facility programs to a unified health insurance system, thus ensuring the sustainability of the restructured health insurance scheme.
