Kathmandu: The President of COP-29 and Special Representative for Climate Issues from Azerbaijan, Mukthar Babayev, met with Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar. During this meeting, PM Oli expressed gratitude towards Azerbaijan’s government for their proactive role in addressing climate change impacts through cooperative efforts.
According to National News Agency Nepal, PM Oli emphasized the importance of non-aligned nations continuing their advocacy for unified action on climate initiatives, specifically the “Himalayas to the Oceans” concept. He highlighted the need to engage larger countries in these efforts to tackle climate change effectively.
Mukthar Babayev is in Nepal to participate in the ongoing Sagarmatha Sambaad. During the meeting, he congratulated Prime Minister Oli for successfully organizing the event and for promoting its environmental messages, particularly those concerning the protection of the Himalayas, on a global platform.
