Japanese Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs Meets PM Oli


Kathmandu: Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, IKUINA Akiko paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli today. Akiko, who is currently in Nepal to participate in the ongoing Sagarmatha Sambaad, held a courtesy meeting with PM Oli at the latter’s official residence in Baluwatar.



According to National News Agency Nepal, PM Oli stated that Nepal and Japan shared cordial relations. He mentioned that the Sagarmatha Sambaad was organized acknowledging that issues emerging due to climate change are a cause for concern for everyone, and collaborative efforts are needed to tackle this global crisis. On this occasion, Oli extended gratitude to the visiting Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs for participating in the Sagarmatha Sambaad, representing the Japanese government.



Furthermore, PM Oli noted that Japan’s experiences in building disaster-resilient buildings, constructing adaptive infrastructures, and environmental sustainability could be useful for Nepal. In response, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs Akiko reaffirmed the Japanese government’s commitment to continued support for Nepal’s economic development, education, human resources development, and environment conservation efforts.



Present at the meeting were Japanese Ambassador to Nepal Maeda Toru and high-ranking officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nepal.
