Kathmandu: Minister for Forests and Environment, Ain Bahadur Shahi Thakuri, and Qatari Foreign Minister’s Special Envoy on Climate Change and Sustainability, Bader Omar Ismail Al Dafa, held a meeting today. The meeting was convened to explore potential collaboration opportunities between Nepal and Qatar, focusing on strategic partnerships in environmental sectors.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the meeting took place as the Special Envoy arrived to participate in the Sagarmatha Sambaad. During the discussions, Minister Shahi emphasized the potential for a long-term strategic partnership between the two countries. The areas identified for collaboration included forest and environment management, technology transfer, pollution control, and innovation.
Minister Shahi also highlighted Nepal’s commitment to send two elephants to Qatar as a gift, a process that will be initiated with a letter to be sent within a month. The Qatari Special Envoy expressed gratitude for the proposal, indicating a positive response to the gesture and the discussions held during the meeting.
