Kathmandu: Chairperson of the CPN (Maoist Centre) and former Prime Minister, Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, emphasized the duty of true republicans to support the federal democratic republican system and advocate for forward-looking change.
According to National News Agency Nepal, in a message of best wishes on the occasion of Republic Day-2082 BS, Dahal underscored the importance of unity among pro-change forces for the defense, exercise, and development of the republic. He highlighted the necessity of cooperation between democratic forces.
Dahal stressed that political parties should focus on transforming the economic, social, and cultural life of the Nepali people by implementing the fundamental rights granted by the republican constitution, in line with the changed governance system.
He remarked that the establishment of the republic is rooted in the historical people’s movement, driven by the conscious initiative of the Maoists and the participation of oppressed masses, alongside the cooperation of other republican forces. He urged pro-republic forces to stand firmly for the republic and change, resisting status quo and retrograde activities.
Chairman Dahal expressed his wish that Republic Day serves as an inspiration for a campaign to improve the condition of the people, emphasizing the development of republican thinking, style, and behavior, coupled with strong unity and cooperation among republican forces.
He also paid tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the people’s war for the establishment of the republic and expressed respect for the sacrifice and dedication of those missing and injured combatants.
