Complaint Lodged Against Political Parties Protesting Republic and Secularism

Kathmandu: A complaint has been lodged at the Election Commission demanding action against political parties registered under the Constitution that are protesting against the republic and secularism, actions deemed anti-constitutional.

According to National News Agency Nepal, Advocate Dr. Premraj Silwal, a resident of Tokha Municipality-8, registered the complaint on Monday. The complaint specifically targets the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) led by Rajendra Lingden, which, despite its representation in the Federal Parliament, has been organizing street demonstrations against the Constitution and the democratic republic system.

The applicant argued that such demonstrations are in violation of the constitution and law and called for adherence to the constitutional provisions related to political parties. The complaint demands action against the RPP for what is described as a blatant violation of the constitutional arrangement regarding the democratic republic, an irreversible provision enshrined in the nation’s laws.

Advocate Silwal emphasized that he filed the complaint to seek justification from the RPP and to demand an end to what he described as anti-constitutional and anti-law actions conducted under the guise of protest. Silwal also urged for legal action that could extend to the withdrawal of the party’s registration.

Additionally, Silwal confirmed that the application has also been submitted to the Prime Minister’s Office, seeking intervention and necessary action.
