Kathmandu: The meeting of the Federal Parliament’s House of Representatives (HoR) has been adjourned until Wednesday. The meeting, which was scheduled for 11 am today, has been postponed until 1 pm on Wednesday due to a lack of consensus to conduct it, said Speaker Devaraj Ghimire’s press advisor, Shekhar Adhikari.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the meeting could not take place at the scheduled time after the opposition party insisted on the resignation of Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak due to his involvement in a visit visa scam. Despite Speaker Ghimire’s efforts to mediate by holding discussions with the Chief Whips of both the ruling and opposition parties, an agreement was not reached, resulting in the postponement of the HoR meeting until Wednesday.
Furthermore, a joint meeting of the CPN (Maoist Centre), the Rastriya Swatantra Party, and the CPN (Unified Socialist) took place at the Parliament Building in Singha Durbar. They collectively decided that the House meeting would not proceed unless Home Minister Lekhak resigned over the visa issue.
