Kathmandu: Chairperson of the CPN (Maoist Centre) and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has made a call to action for all citizens to vocalize strongly in support of environmental justice. His appeal comes as part of a message of best wishes extended on World Environment Day.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Chair Dahal emphasized the importance of collaboration and coordination in cultivating an environment-friendly lifestyle across Nepal. He advocated for a significant reduction in plastic usage, prioritization of reuse, and a unified voice in support of environmental justice.
The message highlighted the urgent necessity for increased activism on both national and international fronts to promote environmental conservation and mitigate the impacts of climate change. Chair Dahal warned that future generations would face severe consequences if decisive actions are not taken immediately to protect mountains, mountain ranges, and the mountain way of life while addressing climate change impacts.
He pointed out the complex challenge posed by plastic waste management, which affects both urban and rural areas. Chair Dahal urged all relevant bodies to come together to solve this problem, as it has long-term detrimental effects on public health, food security, water resources, and ecosystems.
In his message, the CPN (Maoist Centre) Chair stressed the need for the country to pursue a path of green development, with a focus on green energy, climate adaptation strategies, and environment-friendly policies.
