Committee Recommends Government to Adjust Drug Prices Every Two Years

Kathmandu: A committee formed to recommend the government about the adjustments of prices of medicines today submitted its report to Minister for Health and Population, Pradip Paudel. Presenting the report, Committee Coordinator Dr. Poshraj Pandey said the government has been recommended to adjust the prices of medicines every two years.

According to National News Agency Nepal, the Health Minister, upon receiving the document, stated that the medicines prices adjustment committee was formed with the realization that prices of some drugs may be high due to the lack of an in-depth review for an extended period.

The Private Secretariat of the Health Minister reported that, on the occasion, the Minister expressed his hope that the report would also be instrumental in improving the quality of medicines, enhancing its management, and achieving good governance in the relevant area. He emphasized that the Ministry is committed to ensuring that those in need receive medicines at appropriate prices.

Health Ministry Secretary Dilli Ram Sharma highlighted the necessity of cooperation from all quarters to implement the recommendations of the document effectively.
