Palpa: The youths from Nisdi rural municipality of Palpa district have demanded upgrading of a local road. They staged a sit-in at the office of the local level to exert pressure on their representatives.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the dwellers here have been facing inconvenience due to the poor condition of the road section stretching from Rampur Beldanda to Mityal Arunkhola via Dhunganabensi. This road is a crucial link to Lumbini and Gandaki Provinces. While the Nawalpur section of the roadway has been upgraded, delays in upgrading the Palpa section have led locals to intensify their demands for improvements.
The road, which saw the opening of its track five decades ago, still awaits significant upgrades. A local resident, Kamal Saru, expressed that the community has been urging the local government to undertake activities to upgrade and blacktop the roadway. Saru shared the locals’ daily challenges, dealing with dust and mud, and questioned why their representatives have not addressed thes
e issues. Youths demonstrated with placards, emphasizing the need for the upcoming fiscal year’s budget to prioritize the road’s upgrading.
Chairman of Nisdi rural municipality, Mukta Bahadur Saru, mentioned that the responsibility for the road section lies with the federal government, which has not allocated the necessary budget for improvements. He noted that the province and local governments are unable to independently fund enhancements. Nonetheless, Saru assured that the rural municipality would urge the relevant authorities to advance the process in line with public demand. Despite repeated efforts, the locals remain dissatisfied with the lack of response to their concerns.
