Kathmandu: Chief Whip of the CPN UML, Mahesh Bartaula, has confirmed the government’s commitment to enforcing a two-point agreement between the ruling and opposition parties concerning a visit visa scam. This announcement was made during the ongoing House of Representatives meeting, which is deliberating on various ministries under the Appropriation Bill, 2082.
According to National News Agency Nepal, UML Chief Whip Mahesh Bartaula stated that a mechanism would be established within a few days in relation to the agreement. He emphasized the government’s firm stance on the agreement made with the opposition party, asserting that there is no need to wait for a month. He assured that a mechanism will be in place within five days, and Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak will personally announce it in parliament.
Bartaula also expressed his objection to the continuous obstruction of parliament by the Rastriya Swatantra Party. Earlier, Hitraj Pande, the chief whip of the major opposition, insisted that the government must not delay in forming a probe committee on the visit visa scam as per the agreement.
