HoR Concludes Discussion on Ministry Headings Under Appropriation Bill-2082

Kathmandu: Discussion on the various ministry headings under the Appropriation Bill-2082 concluded in the House of Representatives on Sunday. Lawmakers expressed their views on the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Ministry of Women, Children, and Senior Citizens, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Cooperative Development, as well as the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, the National Planning Commission, and the Offices of the President and Vice-President.

According to National News Agency Nepal, during the proceedings, Mahesh Bartaula, the Chief Whip of the CPN UML, proposed the establishment of a coordination section at the Parliament Secretariat. He suggested that this would allow lawmakers to submit proposals without the need to visit ministries directly, which would streamline addressing the people’s needs and plans.

In addition, Sita Gurung of the Nepali Congress criticized the current budget, stating that it does not adequately address the needs of women, children, or senior citizens. She called upon the government to allocate funds for ‘safe houses’ across all seven provinces to support victims of domestic violence and other forms of violence.

The House of Representatives is scheduled to reconvene at 11:00 on Monday, where respective ministers will address the questions raised during the discussions on the ministry headings under the Appropriation Bill.
