Kathmandu: The Chief Whip of the Nepali Congress, Shyam Kumar Ghimire, has expressed complete confidence in the high-level investigation committee formed by the government to address the visit visa issue. During a meeting of the House of Representatives, Chief Whip Ghimire emphasized the need for opposition parties, who have been boycotting the house, to trust the committee and allow it to fulfill its responsibilities.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Chief Whip Ghimire questioned the sustainability of the ongoing boycott by the opposition and stressed the importance of trust in the government for effective parliamentary practice. He urged the boycotting parties to support the committee’s efforts, highlighting their duty towards the Nepalese people. Additionally, Ghimire mentioned that the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority is also investigating the visit visa case.
Meanwhile, Thakur Gaire, a youth leader of the CPN (UML) and member of the House of Representatives, has called for action against those involved in the visit visa case. Gaire, speaking during the House meeting, pointed out that the issue has captured the attention of the entire nation, with many Nepalese suffering due to fraudulent practices. He asserted that those responsible should be held accountable, while innocent individuals should not be wrongfully implicated.
MP Gaire stressed that the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority’s ongoing investigation should not be disrupted by the formation of another committee. He also emphasized the need for legal reforms to prevent similar incidents in the future. Gaire expressed concern that the parliament should be focusing on urgent issues affecting the people, such as the economic crisis, budget discussions, and good governance, rather than being sidetracked by other topics.
