Kathmandu: The Editor of Drishti Weekly, Shambhulal Shrestha, alongside Editor of drishtinews.com, MP Subba, has been granted bail. The Special Court, following a hearing on charges of contempt of court, decided to release both journalists on Thursday.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the Special Court provided bail set at Rs 25,000 for Shrestha and Subba after hearing the case. A division bench consisting of Chairman of the Special Court Tek Narayan Kunwar, and members Tej Narayan Singh Rai, Ram Bahadur Thapa, Murari Babu Shrestha, Ritendra Thapa, and Bidur Koirala, ordered their release following the recording of their statements.
The case was defended by a team of lawyers including Dinesh Tripathi, Dekendra Subedi, and Anantaraj Luintel, among others, representing Drishti Media.
