Kathmandu: Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Raghuji Panta, has committed to incorporating teachers’ concerns into the upcoming School Education Bill, aligning with agreements made with the Confederation of Nepalese Teachers (CNT). During a recent session of the Education, Health and Information Technology Committee of the House of Representatives, Minister Panta requested additional time to refine the Bill to address these concerns.
According to National News Agency Nepal, although there was an anticipation for the Bill to be passed during the meeting, Minister Panta sought more time for the Ministry to address the teachers’ issues adequately. Committee President Amar Bahadur Thapa agreed to postpone the meeting to accommodate this request. Minister Panta expressed his intention to present the Bill in line with the agreements reached with teachers.
Chief Whip of the Nepali Congress, Shyam Ghimire, emphasized the necessity for further discussion to achieve consensus on the Bill. He noted that there are unresolved issues within the Bill that require careful consideration. Committee member Chhabilal Bishwakarma echoed this sentiment, stressing the importance of finalizing certain provisions without unnecessary delays.
Despite these calls for additional deliberation, several committee members, including Dig Bahadur Limbu, Rekha Sharma, Sumana Shrestha, and others, advocated for the swift endorsement of the Bill, suggesting discussions could continue overnight to expedite the process.
