Tanahu: The under construction 140-MW Tanahu hydropower project at Rishing rural municipality-1 in Tanahu district has installed a flood siren to protect people settled near the Seti River from potential disasters.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the project installed the siren under a social responsibility scheme to provide early information on fluctuations of the water level to people living downstream. This initiative is part of the river safety management plan aimed at mitigating flood risks.
Shyamji Bhandari, Chief of the Tanahu Hydropower project, highlighted that an awareness program related to flood-induced disaster risk reduction and management was organized for the people living downstream of the under construction dam. With the monsoon season active across the country, the installed sirens are crucial for alerting residents and enabling them to evade potential flooding disasters.
