NPL Will Be More Systematic: Sports Minister Chaudhary

Kathmandu: Minister for Youth and Sports, Tejulal Chaudhary, announced that the Nepal Cricket Association (CAN) will conduct the Nepal Premier League (NPL) tournament in a more systematic manner. He made these remarks during the ‘Youth Journalism Awards’ handover program organized by the Ministry in Kathmandu.

According to National News Agency Nepal, Minister Chaudhary acknowledged previous controversies surrounding the NPL but assured that future events will be managed effectively. After the first edition of the NPL, a complaint was filed with the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), which prompted the anti-graft body to send a letter to the Ministry for necessary action.

Minister Chaudhary highlighted the existence of the Procurement Act and Regulations, as well as the Sports Development Act-2075, which guide the legal framework for conducting the NPL. He stressed the importance of adhering to these laws and regulations.

On a different topic, Minister Chaudhary emphasized the role of journalism in amplifying the voices of marginalized communities by delivering impartial and reliable news. He noted that the Ministry actively encourages young journalists through the youth journalism award, which focuses on sports and youth issues.
