Kathmandu: Chief Justice Prakashman Singh Raut has termed old legal documents as historic heritages. Speaking at the launch of Pradhannyalaya – 2010 BS, a Nepal law journal published by the Editorial and Publication Committee of the Supreme Court (SC), the Chief Justice stated, “The modern judiciary must be made glorious and prosperous. The efforts to rediscover and compile old verdicts are truly commendable and should be continued.”

According to National News Agency Nepal, the Chief Justice emphasized that the study and research of past judicial practices will be invaluable for future researchers, university students, and law students. He highlighted the importance of these documents in understanding and shaping the future of the legal system.

Hari Phuyal, the SC Judge and Committee Chief, also addressed the gathering, stating that the history of law plays a significant role in the legal sector. He noted that Nepal’s legal history, particularly before the arrival of the Mugals in India, is not widely known and stressed the necessity of preserving these ancient legal values.

Meanwhile, it was reported that the Supreme Court has managed to sort out cases that date back to eight years, showcasing their ongoing commitment to addressing historical legal matters.
