81,242 Samplings of Medicinal Herb Distributed in a Year

Dhangadhi: The Davhariya Botanical Garden at Dhangadhi has taken significant strides in promoting medicinal herb farming by distributing 81,242 samplings to farmers during the fiscal year 2024/25. This initiative is part of a broader effort to encourage commercial herb farming in the region.

According to National News Agency Nepal, the Chief of the Centre, Ganga Dutta Bhatta, revealed that the centre has a yearly target of producing 50,000 saplings of medicinal herbs. Despite this target, the distribution exceeded the production goal, indicating a strong demand and successful propagation of the plants. The distribution follows specific criteria to ensure the sustainability and quality of the medicinal herbs.

In addition to the distribution, the centre also provided training to farmers, aiming to expand herb farming across the Sudurpaschim Province. Last year, 54 individuals received training on herb farming practices, with 25 participants from Chure rural municipality-4 and 29 from Chure rural municipality-3 in the Kailali district. These efforts are expected to enhance the skills and knowledge of local farmers, fostering a thriving medicinal herb industry in the area.
