Jomsom: The Jomsom-Korala roadway, a vital link to Upper Mustang, has been rendered impassable due to a landslide and flooding caused by relentless rainfall early today. The roadway’s obstruction has caused significant disruption to traffic in the region.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the District Police Office Mustang reported that the road blockage is a result of flooding in the Tangwekhola rivulet at Chhusang and near the Mustang Gate at Chhusang. The continuous rain since morning has exacerbated the situation, leading to severe road damage.
Police Inspector Bishal Adhikari, serving as the Information Officer at the DPO Mustang, confirmed that the road has been completely blocked due to a mudslide near the Mustang Gate at Chhusang, Baragung-3, coupled with a mudflow flood at a rivulet near Tangwe. Approximately 30 meters of the road have been extensively damaged, leaving vehicles traveling to and from Upper Mustang stranded. Efforts are currently underway to restore traffic flow on this crucial road section.
