Kathmandu: Nepal has banned access to the Telegram app due to its use in facilitating criminal activities. The Nepal Telecommunications Authority has issued a directive to all telecom service providers, mandating the immediate cessation of access to the app.
According to Nam News Networka, the decision comes amid rising concerns over the increasing number of online fraud incidents in Nepal. Authorities have identified Telegram as a tool used in serious crimes, including money laundering. The notice from the telecommunications authority highlighted the app’s role in these illegal activities, prompting the urgent response to block its use in the country.
