UML Central Committee Concludes Meeting with Discussions on Statute Amendments and Party Membership


Lalitpur: The ninth Central Committee meeting of the CPN (UML) concluded today at the party headquarters in Chyasal, Lalitpur. Chaired by Prime Minister and Party Chairperson KP Sharma Oli, the meeting saw 49 central members expressing their views.



According to National News Agency Nepal, central members discussed the statute amendment report presented by Vice-Chair Bishnu Prasad Paudel and the organizational proposal report by General Secretary Shankar Pokhrel. These reports are set to be presented at the Second Statute General Convention of the party.



Publicity Department Chief Rajendra Gautam noted that members from Gandaki Province, Madhesh Province, Kathmandu Valley Special Province, and the Liaison Coordination Committee participated in the discussions. The majority supported the proposed amendments to the statute, which were unanimously forwarded by the party secretariat and Politburo meeting.



Gautam also shared that the meeting addressed the issue of former President Bidya Devi Bhandari renewing her party membership. Each central member was allotted three minutes to present their views during the meeting.



A committee led by Politburo member Surya Thapa, with central members Bishnu Rijal and Niraj Acharya, was established to document the discussions.



The meeting is scheduled to reconvene tomorrow at 11:00 AM.
