Kathmandu: Bangladesh has won the SAFF U-20 Women’s Championship. Mosmat Sagorika’s outstanding performance led Bangladesh to victory in the tournament. In the final match held today at Bangladesh’s Bashundhara Kings Arena stadium, Bangladesh defeated Nepal 4-0 to claim the title.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Bangladesh emerged as champions of the tournament without suffering a single defeat, amassing 18 points from six matches. In contrast, Nepal, who played the same number of matches, managed to secure only 12 points. The victory marked the second occasion Bangladesh triumphed over Nepal in this year’s tournament. In their initial encounter, Bangladesh narrowly won 3-2, with a decisive goal in the final seconds of injury time.
This victory adds to Bangladesh’s achievements, as they have also clinched the 2023 edition of the tournament. Mosmat Sagorika was pivotal in the final match, opening the scoring in the eighth minute. She extended her team’s lead in the 52nd minute and completed a hat-trick just six minutes later. Sagorika’s fourth goal came in the 78th minute, sealing her team’s comprehensive victory over Nepal.
