No Alliance in Next Election: General Secretary Thapa Declares

Kathmandu: General Secretary of the Nepali Congress, Gagan Kumar Thapa, has reaffirmed that the party’s mahasamiti meeting has decided against forming any electoral alliances in the upcoming election. Speaking at a talk program on the 43rd BP Memorial Day, Thapa emphasized that regardless of who leads the party after the 15th general convention, party members and supporters will not be obliged to vote for other parties due to any electoral alliances.

According to National News Agency Nepal, the talk program was centered on ‘BP’s thoughts and party transformation’. Thapa noted that past electoral alliances were driven by concerns over losing government leadership and other parties taking charge. He argued that eliminating electoral alliances would strengthen the Nepali Congress (NC), as it would free the party from decisions motivated by fear and greed.

Thapa further stated that when party leaders and members commit to the party’s core principles, it will yield positive outcomes in the long term. He urged the party leadership to discard the fear of losing governmental power and focus on maintaining their adherence to party values.

During the event, Treasurer Umesh Shrestha and central members Min Bishwokarma and Madhu Acharya highlighted the importance of following BP’s ideology to fortify the NC. Local leaders such as Pramod Hari Guragain, Suresh Acharya, Basanta Parajuli, Indira Marahattha, Uddhav Lohani, Govinda Sigdel, Pradip Wagle, Krishna Prasad Neupane, Ramesh Khanal, and Rajeshwor Khanal echoed the need for party reforms.
