Lawmakers Demand End of Corruption


Kathmandu: Lawmakers from different political parties drew the government’s attention to take concrete measures to end corruption.



According to National News Agency Nepal, in the meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) held today, Rajenendra Lingden emphasized the need for launching probes into a dozen ministers and bureaucrats in connection to corruption. He insisted on the formation of a high-level judicial investigation commission to conduct a thorough investigation into these allegations. Lingden suggested that without scrutinizing the political sector, bad governance would persist.



Binda Basini Kansakar expressed concern over depleting water resources in the districts of Bara, Parsa, and Mahottari in the Madhesh Province. She highlighted the severe issues related to drinking water and irrigation and questioned why some ministers were making foreign tours amidst such crises. Kansakar also called for an investigation into ministers implicated in bribery.



Jwala Kumari Sah urged unity among all political parties, whether big or small, to bring about positive changes in the lives of the people and the country.



Prabhu Shah drew the government’s attention to the urgent needs of farmers who are waiting for irrigation, chemical fertilizers, and electricity.



Aman Lal Modi raised concerns about the whereabouts of the Education Bill, questioning its disappearance from the legislative agenda.



Narayani Sharma reported that three individuals were missing following a tipper accident in the Bheri Corridor and stressed the need for the government to search for the missing persons.
