Chair Dahal Pledges Support to Address Senior Citizens’ Demands


Kathmandu: The National Senior Citizen Federation Nepal has met with CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairperson and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’. A delegation from the Federation visited Dahal at his Khumaltar residence to request assistance in addressing their demands.



According to National News Agency Nepal, the senior citizens have outlined several issues, including concessions in public transport, identification and management of senior citizens, reforms in the distribution of old age allowances, economic classification-based allowance arrangements, and representation of senior citizens in the National Assembly. The Federation also highlighted the plight of approximately 2,500 senior citizens who remain stateless due to the lack of citizenship certificates, urging Dahal to lead efforts in resolving this issue.



Dahal’s secretariat announced his commitment to supporting the senior citizens’ cause, stating, “The demands you have raised are genuine. I will lend my all possible support. The Maoist Centre will take positive effort to execute the demands of the senior citizens.”



In a separate meeting, a delegation that included local land donors, representatives of various political parties, and officials from Machhapuchhre Rural Municipality, Dhital, Bhedabari, Kaski, also met with Chair Dahal. They called for his initiative in progressing the construction of the ANFA Technical Centre. The delegation reported the completion of preliminary tasks such as surveys, environmental impact assessments, soil testing, and land transfers initiated by the local government.



Dahal assured the delegation of his commitment to coordinating with stakeholders to advance the construction project, as informed by his secretariat.
