Chief Minister Lama Expels Four Ministers in Bagmati Province

Kathmandu: Chief Minister of the Bagmati Province, Bahadur Singh Lama Tamang, has expelled four ministers from his cabinet. The decision marks a significant political shift within the province’s governance structure.

According to National News Agency Nepal, Chief Minister Lama relieved the Minister for Internal Affairs and Law, Suraj Chandra Lamichhane; the Minister for Culture and Tourism, Bimal Thakuri; the Minister for Cooperative and Poverty Alleviation, Madukumar Shrestha; and the Minister for Youth and Sports, Min Krishna Maharjan, from their duties. The expulsion was communicated to the provincial chief, Deepak Prasad Devkota, with Chief Minister Lama citing Article 169(2)(K) of the Constitution 2072 as the basis for his decision.

All four ministers had submitted their resignations to Chief Minister Lama via ‘WhatsApp’ on Friday. The ministers were part of the province government representing the Nepali Congress (NC).

Following their resignations, a non-confidence motion against Chief Minister Lama was registered by 21 members of the provincial assembly, including the four expelled ministers, at the NC parliamentary party office on Friday.
