Kathmandu: Speaker of the House of Representatives, Devraj Ghimire, has returned home today after participating in the Sixth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament organized in Geneva, Switzerland. The conference, held from July 30 to August 2, was organized by the Inter-Parliamentary Union in close collaboration with the United Nations, and Speaker Ghimire had departed for Geneva on July 27.
According to National News Agency Nepal, at a press conference organized at Tribhuvan International Airport today upon his arrival, Speaker Ghimire shared insights from the conference. He mentioned that discussions were held on various issues, including strategies to advance countries lagging behind due to poverty, methods to resolve challenges, and the development of governance operations. Moreover, the conference addressed how governments could be effectively managed.
Speaker Ghimire also noted that the conference tackled issues related to resolving conflicts and differences emerging in world politics. In addition to participating in the conference, Speaker Ghimire engaged in bilateral talks with Speakers from several countries, including the UK, Switzerland, Malta, Israel, and Bhutan, discussing mutual interests and collaborative efforts.
