Disaster Information Sharing Devices Placed at Simaltal and Charaundi

Chitwan: The Armed Police Force (APF) has taken a significant step towards disaster management by installing electrical devices in Simaltal of Chitwan and Charaundi of Dhadfing. These devices are designed to promptly disseminate information regarding potential disaster incidents and risks in the region.

According to National News Agency Nepal, APF Associate Spokesperson Shailendra Thapa mentioned that these devices have been strategically placed in the two most vulnerable locations in collaboration with Luna GPS. The primary function of these devices is to ensure that any disaster-related information is swiftly communicated to the APF Nepal Disaster Management Training Institute in Kurintar.

Thapa explained the operation of these devices, stating, “In case of any disaster incident, local residents or anyone aware of the incident must press the green button on the device for 10 seconds to impart information to the APF. After pressing the button, a siren will make an early warning sound at the armed police disaster management training school, and the incident can be viewed on the monitor at the training center.” This immediate alert system ensures that security forces can be rapidly mobilized for rescue operations.

The APF has also conducted awareness sessions for locals, informing them about the usage and status of these devices. Additionally, residents from Narayangadh to Nagdhunga and those affected by disasters in the area can download the Luna GPS app on their mobile phones. The app allows users to provide real-time information about incidents by pressing the SOS button. This feature presents options for emergencies such as ambulances, floods, landslides, and accidents, helping to streamline the response efforts.

This initiative by the APF underscores the importance of technology in enhancing disaster response capabilities and ensuring the safety of communities in vulnerable areas.
