Kathmandu: Nepali Congress leader Dr Sekhar Koirala expressed concern that those in positions of responsibility are neglecting the development of the education sector in Nepal. Addressing a function organized on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Gyanjyoti Women Secondary School, Dr Koirala emphasized that the development of education is vital for shaping Nepal’s future. He criticized policymakers and decision-makers for not recognizing the fundamental importance of education.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Dr Koirala highlighted that schools should evolve beyond being mere teaching institutions to become centers of community pride and excellence. He stressed the need to explore and harness the potential of Nepal and its people. Continuous support for capacity building of teachers is essential, he noted, as quality education is assured when teachers are capable and adequately compensated.
Dr Koirala underscored that an educated society serves as a foundation for a prosperous nation. He urged that the education sector be kept free from political influences, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing education for the country’s overall development.
