Kathmandu: The 19th National Day Against Human Trafficking is being observed today under the theme ‘Let the three tiers of government join hands and banish vicious cycle of human trafficking’. Issuing a message of best wishes on the occasion, Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizens, Nawal Kishor Sah Sudi, emphasized the government’s efforts in launching awareness-related programs aimed at reducing all types of human trafficking, with a particular focus on the growing issue of trafficking involving children and adolescents.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Minister Sudi reiterated the gravity of human trafficking and smuggling, labeling it as a socially condemnable and legally punishable crime. He highlighted the various legal, structural, and institutional efforts being undertaken by the Government of Nepal for the rescue of victims and those affected by human trafficking and smuggling. These efforts include their rehabilitation, counseling, and legal treatment to prevent and control this crime.
