Kathmandu: The Committee on Development, Economic Affairs and Good Governance under the National Assembly has expressed its commitment to support the government in successfully conducting the upcoming election for the House of Representatives.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the members of the Committee shared their perspectives on the recent Gen-Z protest, honoring those who lost their lives during the demonstrations. They extended their condolences to the bereaved families and wished a swift recovery for those injured.
The Committee emphasized its intention to engage in discussions and consultations with various stakeholders to provide the necessary support for the election process. Dr. Rojnath Pande, Secretary at the Federal Parliament Secretariat, noted that the Committee is also focused on aiding the government in advancing reconstruction initiatives, following consultations with relevant stakeholders.
During its meeting, the Committee reviewed the activities undertaken throughout the year and approved the annual report, which includes suggestions for improvement. Dr. Pande mentioned that the report is to be presented in the upcoming session of the National Assembly. Additionally, the government has been urged to enhance public transport services in light of the approaching festivals and to maintain peace and security during this period.
In a related development, the Public Policy and Delegated Legislation Committee of the National Assembly has called on the government to provide free treatment for those injured in the Gen-Z protest.
