Biratnagar: Finance Minister Rameshwor Khanal has vowed economic development and protection of national interest. Minister Khanal made this commitment during a program organized in Biratnagar on Wednesday, emphasizing that the nation’s interest remains the major priority.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the Minister called for cooperation from the private sector to help reduce corruption. He announced the government’s decision to lay off employees appointed as advisors and personal secretaries as a measure to maintain austerity.
Minister Khanal highlighted the role of the private sector in not only earning profits but also contributing to long-term change. FNCCI President Chandra Dhakal, present at the occasion, stressed the need for a scientific evaluation of goods involved in imports and exports to ensure fair trade. He expressed confidence that the Finance Minister would actively work towards making the national economy more dynamic.
Dhakal also advised Minister Khanal to take initiative in enforcing suggestions from the high-level economic reform commission, which he previously chaired. Moreover, business persons in Biratnagar handed over a written suggestion to Minister Khanal, aiming to further enhance economic strategies.
