Kathmandu: The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police arrested former Secretary Arjun Karki for his alleged involvement in foul play while leasing land plots registered under the Nepal Trust. Karki, who served as Secretary of Nepal Trust, is accused of causing harm to the nation by taking unlawful benefits through an agreement to lease trust land, as stated by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shiva Kumar Shrestha, the spokesperson for CIB.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the arrest came as part of an investigation into a contract agreement involving Thamsherku Trekking Company. The company reportedly received more land from the Durbarmarg area than was specified in the notice issued by the Office of Nepal Trust. The CIB claims that an agreement was signed on May 28, 2017, granting an additional land plot to Thamsherku Trekking Company, a decision that has been deemed malicious.
In connection with the same case, the CIB had earlier arrested Lekh Bahadur Karki, who was the then Joint Secretary of Nepal Trust.
