Janakpur: Defending champions Janakpur Bolts and Kathmandu Gurkhas are set to face off in the opening match of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) beginning today. The match will commence at 4.00 pm this afternoon at the International Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground in Kirtipur.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Janakpur, which was victorious against Kathmandu in the first edition of the NPL, will be playing under the leadership of Shivnarine Chanderpaul from the West Indies. Previously, the team was led by Pubudu Dassanayake, the former coach of the Nepali national team.
Kathmandu Gurkhas have appointed Monti Desai of India as the head coach for this second edition. Monti Desai is also recognized for his previous role as the chief coach of the Nepali national team.
