Karnali: The Karnali Province government has announced a new policy to implement development projects only if their budget exceeds Rs 2 million. Ramesh Subedi, spokesperson at the Ministry of Physical Infrastructures and Urban Development, stated that the government has amended the project selection procedure for the second time. Projects costing less than Rs 2 million will be managed at a lower administrative level.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the government has also established criteria for projects related to drinking water and irrigation. These projects must have a minimum budget of Rs 5 million to be undertaken by the provincial government, otherwise, they will be handled by local authorities. Additionally, for project proposals involving cost-sharing and public participation, proposers are required to contribute 10 percent of the total cost. Projects exceeding Rs 5 million must be enlisted in the Project Bank.
